212 Degrees, and What it Means for Us

"At 211 degrees, water is hot. At 212 degrees, it boils. And with boiling water, comes steam. And with steam, you can power a train. Just one extra degree makes all the difference."

- S. L. Parker

In January we had the pleasure of having international speaker Steve Hopper come and present the 212° concept to our team. It's a concept we plan to apply to ourselves this year, so we would like to go over the ideas of it as well as what it means for us.

"...You are capable of 100% every day."

-Steve Hopper

As the quote at the start would indicate, the concepts focus is on how that one extra degree of effort you give can make all the difference. That the one additional degree is the margin between being good and being great, and it can be applied both in business and life. Without that extra bit of effort, water would never boil, and you would have no metaphorical steam to power you to achieve great things.

"You are capable of doing 10x great things then you did last year..."

- Steve Hopper

For us, this is the kind of ideal we want to push our business towards and achieve. To make an effort to put that one 1 degree more. To not just provide good services but to offer exceptionally great services to our customers. That's why we gave out books for our employees to read, as well as shirts to wear on Wednesdays; all in an effort to follow this ideal not just in our business but also in personal goals.

"The only thing that stands between a person and what they want in life is the will to try it and the faith to believe it is possible."

- S. L. Parker

We want to thank Steve Hopper for coming and presenting the 212 degrees concept to us with the passion he did. This concept is one we will strive to apply to our business because our customers deserve the greatness that the one extra degree of effort can bring with it.
